Our most important priority for Woodbury is implementation of a long-term water treatment solution. We have been working closely with the State of Minnesota to guide their Conceptual Drinking Water Supply Plan so it best meets Woodbury's needs. This plan is how the State of Minnesota intends to use money from the 3M PFAs settlement.
Until a permanent solution is in place, we worked swiftly to implement a temporary water treatment solution that has been fully funded through the State of Minnesota and 3M. This temporary water treatment was completed in June, 2020, and will meet our needs until a permanent solution is in place.
Woodbury has also worked diligently to optimize our water sustainability. For example, we have distributed over 2,100 discounted smart irrigation controllers that have decreased water consumption dramatically.
In September, 2019, I was appointed by Governor Walz to serve as the Seven-County Metro Area Elected Official Representative on the Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR). This position allows me to learn about best practices to bring home to Woodbury, as well as advocate at a state level for beneficial water policy. If reelected to the Woodbury City Council, I will be able to continue in this important and beneficial role for Woodbury.
